Hello there!!
I'm into week 2 of business with Relax Revolution and I'm having so much fun!! Massage treatments can be hard work and a physical drain on the therapists body but it just doesn't feel like work to me. I enjoy the treatments as much as the clients and the feedback at the end is always a pleasure to hear. Whether it's removing tension and easing pain or just taking someone to a place of calm, quiet and relaxation for a while every second is rewarding.
I have recently qualified as a complimentary therapist with a level 3 diploma and I'm now studying towards my level 4 which will increase my range of treatments and also further develop my skills to an advanced level. The goal has always been to become self employed so I can be in control of my own work life balance and income potential and here I am! I know it's the honeymoon period and I'm going to have to work hard long after the treatments have finished to have the best chance of success but I don't feel like I am at work and that right there is the dream right?
There's just this one thing, quite a big thing, that's hanging around like a bad smell. COVID-19!! Aaaarrgghhh!!! It's one step forward and two steps back. It's everywhere and it's having an impact on everyone's lives but I didn't want to wait. This dreaded virus may be around for some time and I was ready to hit the ground running. There's been a couple of hitches such as isolating delaying my opening, the childminder isolating which in turn reduces my availability and then of course the cancellations that occur due to fear, suspected symptoms, lack of childcare due to virus amongst all the usual reasons to reschedule. I laugh as I consider what I am doing, I may be crazy, maybe I'm not a great business woman (YET), However, I have still had 2 busy weeks and where there have been cancellations there have been last minute appointments. The treatments are receiving great reviews and I'm constantly self evaluating and working on where I can improve.
One thing is for sure a lot of businesses haven't and won't survive the current climate and mine may be amongst them, or perhaps I could offer people a little bit of what is needed in these difficult times? Time away from their home offices, improving their mental wellbeing and reducing stress levels and just overall promoting self care which is important now more than ever! I have reached the ripe old age of ?? and I have finally discovered what I want to be when I grow up.....Happy!!
If I can survive this madness then I am positive about my future in business. I never make life easy for myself and love a challenge.
